Newport, Rhode Island
On Saturday morning, we went to Newport, RI, following the recommendation of my in-laws. I loved it! I don’t know if I could say the same thing for my husband, who had already been there before, but it wasn’t something unbearable (I think).
Our (well, my) main intention was to see the mansions, so we didn’t have a lot of time to wander around downtown Newport, which I also heard was really nice for sightseeing. With a little research, I had learned that we had to see The Breakers first, and then Rosecliff. (the Breakers is the most famous mansion but my choice of Rosecliff was solely based on appearance!) We also took a self-guided audio tour in the mansions, but photography was not allowed inside, so I only have photos from the gardens. It’s a great place to visit if you have the chance —walking in those glamorous rooms and corridors make you feel like you’re in a movie set. I was having a hard time believing that people used these mansions only as summer houses. Imagine the house they live in for the rest of the year!
Relevant proverb from Turkish on this issue: Wealth of the rich is a never-ending topic of conversation for the poors!
Anyway, here are some photos.
This is the view from the second floor of The Breakers!

…and here’s the garden.

The last three photos are from Rosecliff.
