The Best Steak I Had in My Life

Even writing this makes my mouth water —here’s the restaurant where we had the best steak of our lives. Interestingly it was not in Buenos Aires but in Montevideo, which made the 3-hour ferry worth every second. These are only a couple of the photos from that dinner, but I’ll post all the delicious meat photographs I have right after this one —in high resolution! :)

The name of the restaurant is Cabaña Verónica and it’s located at Mercado del Puerto.

My Little South America Trip

I finally had the time to sit down and actually start writing again. I was thinking of writing posts last week while I was still in Rio de Janeiro, but the only time I found was on the last day of vacation for two hours and I chose to upload the photos to my Facebook account. I feel like I betrayed Tumblr :(

The vacation plan was like this —Two days in Rio, then off to Buenos Aires and then back to Rio to New York. While in Buenos Aires, we also went to Montevideo which was only 3 hours away with a ferry. The major problem was that we arranged everything thinking that we would initially leave from New York, however it turned out that we had to leave from Istanbul as we were there for my husband’s project. Let me try to explain what we had to go through: A 10-hour flight from Istanbul to New York, 4-hour wait at the airport, and another 10-hour flight to Rio!

Even though we had to deal with all the torturous airports, struggling with the very annoying airport staff and long queues in a space of only 11 days, I wouldn’t change a thing. Seeing new countries always feels great, but this was a totally different experience. Well, for starters no one knew English, and we didn’t speak a word of Portuguese or Spanish. We made great use of our hands gestures while trying to explain something, which gave us headaches sometimes but usually ended up being quite funny.

With this short introduction, I’ll start explaining the places we saw and the incredible steaks we ate, as I go along with the photographs in the following posts. Unfortunately I don’t think I’ll be able to write everything down today —they will follow shortly. My sister-in-law is here in NY with me this week and we basically don’t stay at home during the day, and it’s also NYC Fashion Week, which means we won’t be home during the night as well :) So bear with me with these South America posts.

 Feels good to be back.
